Moong Oats

Boil 1 cup of water in a sauce pan, add oats-3 tbsp and nuts( mix of almonds and walnuts), salt, powdered cumin pepper, cook stirring for 4 mts. Add cooked moong dal to it. Cook for another minute. Serve hot.

Methi Porridge/Vendaya Kanji/Menthiya kanji

Soak Methi overnight. Pressure cook with the soaked water. Add a spoon of cooked rice. In a heavy bottom pan simmer cooked methi and rice mixture add palm sugar/karuppatti (sweet to your taste), cook until dissolves, I added 2 tbsp of palm sugar to handful of methi. Add coconut milk after it is cooled down. 

Coriander Chilli paratha

Finely chop coriander leaves, mince a couple of green chillies, 1 tsp
of cumin seeds, add this to wheat flour and knead with enough water as usual till soft.  Rest the dough and make rotis or parathas. 

Nilamu Bezha Sambhar/Moong Dal/Paasi paruppu dal/No masala kadappa

Dry roast Moong dal/Paasi paruppu/Nilamu bezho - 1 cup until golden brown. Add 2 1/2 cups of water  and pressure cook till soft. Heat 3 tbsp of oil temper with mustard, urad dal, red chillies-2, hing, curry leaves 1 sprig,saute 1 medium sized finely chopped onion,salt, 1/4th tsp of turmeric powder,8-9 green chillies finely chopped,  1 ripe vine tomato finely chopped. Add this to the cooked mashed dal. Simmer and reduce to your choice of consistency. Also note the spice comes only from green chillies and there is no other spice powder added to this.  This goes very well with phulka, paratha, dosa.
